David
'Dai' Williams involvement with West Wales
basketball stems from years of competing against
Carmarthen in his early basketball experience.
David has maintained the fact that he has ended up coaching every team he has
ever been on, such is the amount of talking he usually does.
David attended school in Cefn Saeson comprehensive in Neath and after watching
the movie "white men cant jump", jumped feet first into basketball,
including starting his school team. David then started the Neath State Warriors
basketball team whose first game ironically was against Mark Williams Carmarthen
team.
From 1997 - 2000 he played and coached for the infamous Baglan Boys club, and
then in a bid to play for a team where he didnt have to coach, joined Camarthen
basketball in 2001.
After a 2 year stint living in Bristol, playing for and again eventually coaching
Redcliffe mens in the West of England League, David returned to play for the
Swansea storm under Chris Harper, as well as Carmarthen in their dominant 2007/2008
West Wales winning season.
David has taken on the roll of coaching the West Wales Seniors team, that will
enter the SWVL for the first time, and is confident they can get promotion in
their first season. |
